Pearls of Ubuntu Youth Business Development Competition

The Pearls of Ubuntu Youth Business Development Program is a transformative five-week entrepreneurial journey designed to empower young minds with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to build and launch their own businesses.

How It Works

During the program, participants receive hands-on training in:

✔ Business Development – Turning an idea into a structured business plan

✔ Marketing & Branding – Learning how to promote their business effectively

✔ Financial Literacy – Understanding basic budgeting, pricing, and profitability

✔ Customer Service & Sales – Learning how to engage customers and drive sales

✔ Public Speaking & Pitching – Developing confidence in presenting their business

✔ Networking & Leadership – Connecting with mentors and learning from successful entrepreneurs

As part of their learning experience, participants take part in a Pop-Up Shop where they showcase and sell their products or services, gaining real-world business experience.

The Shark Tank-Style Competition

At the end of the program, community leaders and experienced business owners join a panel to evaluate the young entrepreneurs in a Shark Tank-style business pitch competition. Each student presents their business and demonstrates how they’ve developed it throughout the program.

One student will win the grand prize of $1,000 to further grow their business, but no participant leaves empty-handed. Every graduate earns the title of Pearl and is invited to return as an Ambassador the following summer to teach a trade or business skill they developed during the program.

A Legacy in the Making

This year’s graduates will make history as the first to complete the full program, having worked year-round to build and refine their businesses. Their journey will culminate at the Pearls of Ubuntu Gala on June 7, 2024, where the winner of this year’s Pro 2 Business Program will be officially announced.
